What seems to connect them is not the plot. Both make ordinary places feel ancient, use incomplete history, and let small personal choices reveal the larger world. We can carry those qualities into a different setting and conflict.
My setting is a chain of floating industrial towns.
Then the equivalent may be old maintenance rituals, missing records, inherited machinery, and local stories about why each town drifts where it does. That preserves the qualities you like without importing the original worlds.
