MEAL PLANNING

Plan My Meals for the Week

You do not need a perfect meal-planning system, a color-coded calendar, or fourteen matching containers. You just need to tell AI what your week actually looks like.

Overview

Meal planning gets frustrating when the plan is built for an imaginary version of your life.
Maybe Tuesday is packed. Maybe Thursday you know you're going to be tired. Maybe one person hates onions, someone else is trying to eat more protein, and you have chicken in the freezer that really needs to get used.
Tell AI all of that.
The more your plan reflects your real week, the more useful it becomes.

What to Tell AI

Give AI the parts that change the answer. You can say it naturally and messily.

Try Something Like

Tell AI who you are feeding, which nights are unusually busy, any foods people refuse to eat, what you already have, and the rough budget you want to stay near.

Example Conversation

You:

Help me plan dinners for Monday through Friday. There are three of us. Tuesday is really busy, so that needs to be fast. My daughter hates mushrooms. We have chicken breasts and ground beef already. I'd like to keep the grocery list under \$100.

AI:

Absolutely. Here's a simple five-night plan built around the chicken and ground beef you already have:
Monday: Sheet-pan chicken, potatoes, and green beans
Tuesday: Quick beef tacos with bagged slaw
Wednesday: Chicken fried rice using leftover chicken
Thursday: Baked pasta with spinach and mozzarella
Friday: Homemade pizza or flatbreads with whatever vegetables are left
I can also turn this into a grocery list grouped by section and estimate the cost.

You:

Thursday is the problem. Nobody here is going to want baked pasta.

AI:

Fair enough. Let's replace it. Since Thursday sounds like a normal weeknight, how about cheeseburger bowls, beef and broccoli, or breakfast for dinner?

You:

Breakfast for dinner. My wife will actually eat that.

AI:

Done. Thursday becomes breakfast for dinner. I can rebuild the grocery list around the revised plan and reuse ingredients where it makes sense.

Helpful Variations

Plan Around Your Schedule

“Wednesday is my worst day. Give me the easiest meal that night.”

Use What You Already Have

“I'll list what's in my freezer. Build the week around that first.”

Set a Real Budget

“I have about \$75 for five dinners. Help me stay close to that, and ask what I already have before making the grocery list.”

Plan for Leftovers

“Make two meals intentionally create leftovers I can use for lunch.”

Next Steps

Once the basic plan looks right, keep going.
Ask AI to:

  • Build the grocery list
  • Group the list by store section
  • Swap a meal you don't like
  • Reduce the estimated cost
  • Reuse ingredients across several dinners
  • Add simple lunches
  • Turn leftovers into another meal
  • Adjust the plan halfway through the week
  • Ask you anything that would help make the plan better
  • Tell you what you may be forgetting that could change the plan

You are not locked into the first plan.
Neither is AI.
