Overview
Tell AI where you are going, how long you will be there, what you plan to do, who is traveling, how you are getting there, and what luggage limits you have.
AI can build a practical list around the actual trip, flag easy-to-forget items, separate essentials from nice-to-haves, and help you avoid packing for an imaginary version of the vacation.
What to Tell AI
Include the destination, dates, expected activities, weather, accommodations, transportation, luggage limits, and any personal needs.
Try Something Like
“I’m going to Seattle for five days in October. I’ll be walking around the city, attending one nice dinner, and taking a day hike. I only want to bring a carry-on. Help me pack for the trip I’m actually taking.”
Example Conversation
I always overpack. Can you build this around one carry-on and tell me what I can wear more than once?
Yes. I would build around layers, one pair of walking shoes, one nicer outfit, and clothing that can be reused in different combinations. I’ll also separate what should go in your personal item in case the carry-on is checked.
I use prescription medication and hate being cold.
I’ll put medication, documentation, and one warm layer in the personal item, then add a rain shell and compact insulating layer rather than several bulky sweaters.
Helpful Variations
“Adjust this list for the current forecast and explain what changed.”
“Build separate lists for two adults and two children, then identify shared items.”
“Reduce this to the smallest realistic carry-on list.”
Next Steps
