What Changed Between These Two?

You have two versions of the same bill, policy, agreement, or set of rules. Somewhere between the old one and the new one, something changed. Now you have to find it.

Overview

A new bill arrives.
A policy gets updated.
The instructions changed.
A company sends you a “revised agreement” that appears to be mostly the same twelve pages you already had.
You could read both versions line by line.
Or you could give them to AI and ask a much simpler question:
What changed?
AI can compare two documents, lists, screenshots, or blocks of text and help pull the differences into one place.
Maybe the price went up.
Maybe a deadline moved.
Maybe three paragraphs were rewritten and everything else stayed the same.
Instead of rereading the whole thing, start with the differences.
Then decide which ones actually matter.

What to Tell AI

Give AI both versions and explain what you are comparing.
You can say it naturally and messily.

Try Something Like

Show AI the old and new versions. Tell it which is which and ask it to list the meaningful changes, especially anything involving prices, dates, requirements, limits, or responsibilities.

Example Conversation

You:

My internet company sent me a new service agreement. Here's the one from last year and the new one. Can you tell me what actually changed?

AI:

Most of the language appears unchanged. The meaningful differences I found are:

  • The monthly equipment fee increased from \$10 to \$15.
  • The late-payment grace period changed from 15 days to 10 days.
  • A new section was added about using your own router.
  • The cancellation section was rewritten, although the 30-day notice requirement appears to remain the same.
You:

The router part is the only one I care about. What changed there?

AI:

The new version specifically allows customer-owned equipment, but says technical support may be limited when the problem involves that equipment. The older agreement did not clearly address customer-owned routers.

Helpful Variations

Compare Two Bills

“These bills are from different months. Tell me what charges changed and which ones are new.”

Check the Updated Rules

“Here are the old and new rules. Ignore wording changes unless they actually change what I can or cannot do.”

Find the Important Changes

“Compare these two versions and focus only on money, deadlines, responsibilities, or penalties.”

Tell Me What Disappeared

“Do not just look for new language. Tell me if anything from the old version was removed.”

Next Steps

Once AI finds the differences, ask it to:

  • Separate meaningful changes from simple wording edits
  • Explain one changed section in plain language
  • Show where each change appears
  • Check whether a fee or deadline moved
  • Look specifically for removed language
  • Rank changes by likely importance
  • Compare the change with your specific situation
  • Help you write questions about anything unclear
